Instagram Project with SQL and Looker Studio

This Instagram initiative encompassed the utilization of SQL (structured query language), wherein the central sub-languages employed included DDL (Data Definition Language). DDL was harnessed to fabricate tables and formulate the schema within the mysql and phpmyadmin environments. DML (Data Manipulation Language) played a role in inserting records into diverse tables. Moreover, DQL (data query language) came into play for extracting information pertinent to assorted business inquiries and predicaments.

What rendered this project distinctive was my ability to not only construct queries in mysql but also to showcase these queries within Looker Studio. This was accomplished by interfacing with a remote database from my hosting provider. The methodology for achieving this is outlined as follows:

  • Enable access to your virtual mysql database
  • Connect your remote database to mysql workbench
  • Establish a connection between your remote database and Looker Studio, where you can input your credentials. While you have the option to include tables in Looker Studio, I specifically employed custom queries for this project.
  • Review solutions in looker studio: https://lookerstudio.google.com/reporting/734f5a03-0ffb-404c-963d-850792788de4
